Jan Cober

 

Foto Jan CoberJan Cober studied clarinet and orchestral conducting at the Maastricht Conservatoire, winning the "Prix d'Exellance" for both. He worked as first solo clarinet with the "Residentie Orchestra di Den Haag", whilst continuing his orchestral conducting studies with Willem von Otterloo and Ferdinand Leitner. He took part in the famous NOB conducting course with Neéme Jàvi. Jan Cober is the director of many international festivals (amongst which Berlin, Boston, Sydney and Valencia). Since 1980 he has been a guest conductor with many orchestras both Dutch and European. Since 1988 he has directed the European Youth Band. Jan Cober is professor of music at the conservatories of Tilburg, Utrecht and Maastricht and regularly holds courses in conducting both in Holland and abroad. Television and radio performances have always played a major role in his career as well as a significant number of CD productions in his name.
